Irish history is a vast subject – dating back to when Ireland first appeared on Ptolemy’s world map in c120. The arrival of St Patrick in 432 and the Vikings in 795, the Great Potato Famine, 1916 Easter Rising, The War of Independence and Civil War were all instrumental in shaping and uniting Ireland as we know it today.
History and folk law are sometimes mixed up when stories are told, but Ireland's troubled past is well documented and very well presented as you travel through the streets, be it on foot or by one of the many sightseeing hop on/off buses that tour the city. Dublin has many important landmarks and statues which all have their own story, making this city a fascinating place to visit.
